Our event weekend began at Casa Chameleon Las Catalinas with an array of appetizers and cocktails served around the pool. A live DJ played while guests mixed and mingled as the sun began to set over the Pacific. Guests then migrated to Sentido Norte restaurant where a six course sit down dinner was served and live saxophone melodies created a wonderful ambiance. One dish was presented by each chef, inspired by local Guanacaste seasonal ingredients. The internationally acclaimed chefs from around the globe included John Mooney, Justin Smillie, Warner Ortega, Deuki Hong, Jose Lopez, Gilberto Briceño and Monica Phillips.
The creative cuisine included everything from tuna tartare and kimchi shrimp to mahi mahi and lamb. Following dinner was a delectable dessert of sponge cake with fruit and caramel truffles. And the talent showed in the details of each unique creation of flavorful bites.
After dinner, guests reconvened around the pool for more music, plenty of socializing and even some dancing here and there.
The second evening of the event was a more casual celebration located in the town of Las Catalinas at Plaza Santa Lucia. This larger gathering included live music and entertainment, buffet stations with assorted traditional Guanacaste dishes and guest chefs at stations serving bite size appetizers based on their inspiration of Guanacaste.
We felt Guanacaste Nights was a very successful gastronomic weekend to be remembered and hope that guests thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in Guanacaste culture, food and traditions. We can’t wait for our next event.
