Our second season of Guanacaste Nights at Las Catalinas transformed the serene Las Catalinas coast into an energized gastronomic extravaganza. The two-day event featured seven chefs daily, each with a unique take on Costa Rican cuisine, as they worked together to bring the colorful ingredients of Guanacaste to life.
The internationally acclaimed chefs from around the globe included Chef Ryan Hardy, Chef Jose Lopez, Chef Gilberto Briceño, Chef Demian Geneau, Chef Jaak Toomsalu, Chef Mawa McQueen, & Chef Monica Phillips.
The creative cuisine included everything from Tapa de dulce-flamed tuna tataki, Arrowroot chicharrón and Guanacaste-style “Carabinero”shrimp kebabs to Yuca crusted striped bass with a spicy citrus salsa, Charcoal-roasted sweet potato tortelli, lime and cilantro and Miso yuzu truffle ribeye.
Following dinner was a delectable dessert of Coconut panna cotta with ginger crumble, tangerine slices, passion fruit coulis and white chocolate ganache. And the talent showed in the details of each unique creation of flavorful bites.
Live music, signature cocktails and a cheerful atmosphere put the final touches to this charming food festival.
The second evening of the event was a more casual celebration located in the town of Las Catalinas at Plaza Danta. This larger gathering included live music and entertainment, buffet stations with assorted traditional Guanacaste dishes and guest chefs at stations serving bite size appetizers based on their inspiration of Guanacaste.
We felt Guanacaste Nights was a very successful gastronomic weekend to be remembered and hope that guests thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in Guanacaste culture, food and traditions. We can’t wait for our next event.
